Coming from a family where both parents retired from SBCUSD, you could say that teaching was always in her blood. She believed then that teaching was not just a job but a calling. And that belief still holds true for her today. “We don’t teach for the sake of teaching, we teach for the students to learn. It’s a vocation; you’re called to do this job.”
When asked what the most gratifying part of being a high school Principal was, Rodriguez replied without hesitation, “Working with the students, having them grow up, watching them blossom and seeing their potential.” Being Principal has its challenges as well, but Rodriguez is determined to face them head on. “Restoring a reputation and creating a new history of the school in addition to making students realize the value of education, while building honor and respect” – are issues that Rodriguez is working hard to address.
Principal Rodriguez is proud of the fact the SBHS has a deep-rooted tradition in its alumni, with many holding prominent positions in the community and giving of their time to help students. In the spirit of restoring pride at the school, Rodriguez is planning to spearhead the restoration project of the auditorium and hopes to attract alumni, local businesses, community leaders and the public to come together to collaborate on the restoration of this historic landmark. |
